Go Team USA!

Updated: Sep 14

LET’S GO TEAM USA

Solheim Cup, Sept. 13-15, 2024

If someone told you to make some noise, cheer, and get loud on the golf course, you

know it’s Solheim cup time! It’s the best and most energizing team competition in

women’s golf. Team USA competes against Team Europe over three days and the

winning team gets to take the trophy and earns the bragging rights. No matter who wins,

it’s a big win for women’s golf.

This year, the competition is at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, VA, and

marks the 19 th  playing of the Solheim Cup. The U.S. Team currently holds a 10-8

advantage over Europe in Solheim Cup competition, and we will support Europe to be

the second best at this competition. USA! USA! USA!

I will be cheering from my hometown of Houston, with the US flag in one hand, and an

AP US History book in the other. Got to keep the grades high for the history test and

pray for low scores for Team USA. Learning about the US Constitution where women in

18 th century were advocating for respect and representation through the role models of

Abigail Adams and Mary Wollstonecraft. Today, in the 21 st century, we have many

women role models, especially in women’s golf LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Ambassador

and Team USA captain Stacy Lewis and LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan

who are always advocating for equal rights, equal funding, and sponsorship for

women’s sports. While our roles have evolved, changed and we have achieved equality

in many areas, there is still more work to be done. Here’s to #onemillionmoregirls and

inspiring the next generation of them at The Solheim Cup

Let’s use the platform of social media and other channels to support women’ golf,

women’s sports. To quote, world’s greatest athletes: Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, Simone

Manuel, and Sue Bird, “Everyone Watches Women’s Sports.”
